Abstract
Le développement remarquable de l’histoire de la santé au Québec au cours des deux dernières décennies s’est inscrit à la confluence de deux grands courants historiographiques: le renouveau international de l’histoire de la santé, d’une part, et le remodelage du regard historien porté sur le Québec, d’autre part. De cette rencontre ont résulté des traits spécifiques que l’auteur fait ressortir. Il montre ainsi que plusieurs historiens ont remis en cause la thèse du retard de la société québécoise d’avant 1960. Se pencher, tout comme les historiens d’ailleurs, sur les rapports entre les acteurs sociaux qui participent à la production des services de santé, dévoiler la diversité de leurs intérêts et exposer leurs conflits, c’était aussi briser l’image d’une société monolithique réfractaire à la modernité.
