Abstract
An analysis of the effect of vacuum applied surface treatments on the mechanical behavior of shell-type structures was presented. The behavior of vacuum applied damping pads (VA pads), which were efficient in reducing impact noise was studied by vibration measurements and acoustic noise measurements. The analysis showed that the transverse acceleration of vacuum applied pads was partly independent of the motion of the impacted plate.
