Abstract
Les types d'analyse sociologique de la jeunesse articulent une réflexion sur la formation d'un âge de la vie défini par des critères culturels autonomes, et par des mécanismes de distribution des individus dans la structure sociale qui s'opèrent durant cette période. C'est en cela que les sociologies de la jeunesse oscillent sans cesse d'un pôle à l'autre et sont définies par la tension même de leur objet. Cette dualité se transforme historiquement avec l'installation de la jeunesse moderne et se joue, pour l'essentiel, dans les mécanismes scolaires. La jeunesse peut être considérée comme un acteur social à condition de tenir compte de cette dualité.
