Abstract
In this article, the author looks at the various people operating in the area of mental health as entrepreneurs sharing a market valued at +900 million. The study shows how today's promoters have become an extension of psychiatric institutions and the vehicles of the Ministry of Health and Social Services and, ultimately, of the State. The author explains that not all promoters have the same level of experience nor the same financial stability ; that certain players act as multinationals, others as crwn corporations, while still others, the most recently established, are working, if you follow the analogy, as either small and mid-sized firms or craftsmen in the field ormental health. The author points to a gradual stratification of those involved, from promoeters strugling to survive to those intent on developing themselves, in a market where everybody wants their place under the sun.
