Abstract
A dor lombar atinge cerca de 80% da população adulta, gerando um custo anual de milhões de dólares.Embora a etiologia nem sempre seja clara, excetuando algumas patologias bem definidas, a hipotrofia das fibras do tipo I e II, no multífido e eretores da coluna parece estar sempre presente.A resistência de alguns terapeutas em recomendar o exercício como prevenção e reabilitação, perpetua um quadro de descondicionamento crônico, onde toda atividade física passa a ser evitada, gerando conseqüências socioeconômicas graves para esses pacientes.O objetivo dessa revisão foi demonstrar que o treinamento contra resistência, na reabilitação da dor lombar crônica, possui efeito clinicamente testado; ao contrário de algumas modalidades passivas de reabilitação, sobretudo no que diz respeito ao trabalho isolado dos extensores da coluna.
