Les troubles des conduites (TC) qui surviennent dès l'enfance chez les filles n'ont fait l'objet que d’encore peu de recherche pour comprendre les facteurs qui affectent leur développement et leur évolution. Cette étude est basée sur l'hypothèse qu'en raison de facteurs de protection propres aux filles, les niveaux de risque associés à leurs TC sont différents de ceux des garçons. L’étude a été menée au Québec auprès de 462 élèves du primaire (6-9 ans), incluant 261 enfants suivis à l’école pour des TC (48 % de filles) et 201 sans TC (51% de filles). Les mesures portent sur les caractéristiques individuelles, familiales, relationnelles et scolaires des enfants. Les résultats montrent que i) les caractéristiques associées à la présence des TC sont semblables pour les deux sexes, et ii) les liens entre ces caractéristiques et les TC sont plus forts chez les filles dans plus du tiers des cas. Ces résultats appuient l’hypothèse que les filles qui ont des TC précoces ont une plus forte exposition aux facteurs de risque familiaux et sociaux que les garçons.
