Abstract
À une époque où l’avenir des lieux de culte du Québec impose de multiples réflexions et mobilise les citoyens de toutes les communautés, autant en milieu urbain que rural, des initiatives locales permettent le recyclage d’églises à des fins culturelles et communautaires. Ces démarches assurent ainsi la préservation de riches bâtiments religieux. À Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, en Montérégie, le Muso – Musée de société des Deux-Rives occupe depuis peu une ancienne église protestante du centre-ville, située jadis aux portes d’une importante usine de transformation du textile. Cet article retrace les étapes et les défis de la transformation d’une église en musée, un projet rassembleur pour l’ensemble de la collectivité.
