Résumé Cet article se penche sur les jeux de (non-)passage de substance dans les micro-récits (notamment en ligne) qui condamnent à mort le nain de jardin. Ils mettent en lumière différents processus de profanation visant la « re-substantialisation » de la matière. Ces passages sont multidimensionnels : passage de l’objet à travers l’histoire et le territoire, passage de l’individu vers son émancipation, passage de l’objet au statut de monstre sacré. À l’instar de la patrimonialisation, ce processus de « re-substantialisation » permet aux individus d’affirmer leur identité et de recoudre des liens de filiation. À l’inverse, et c’est peut-être ce qui discrédite l’objet industrialisé comme patrimoine, cette affirmation passe par l’affranchissement.
