Abstract
The objective of this article is to describe the principle characteristics of the process of internalization of an SME. To expand on and enrich the dominant behaviorist model, it is pointed out that examining an enterprise's resources, and particularly its industrial capacity, is part of thinking internationally. The article goes beyond external analysis of the environment - suggested by behaviorist theory - to look at the complexity of the dynamics of being open to internationalization, focusing on elements that encompass marketing dimensions and, in particular, structural and industrial processes.
