L’identité narrative comme processus de négociation des frontières entre groupes minoritaires et majoritaires

Abstract
Cet article explore l’identité individuelle comme ayant une dimension sociale fondamentale à travers les processus de différenciation et de hiérarchisation sociale qui permettent la création, la reproduction et la transformation des frontières entre groupes majoritaires et minoritaires. Ces frontières rendent opératoires les différences entre les groupes gérées comme ressources symboliques à partir desquelles les individus négocient leur subjectivité. Nous proposons que la notion d’identité narrative de Paul Ricœur permet de voir cette négociation à l’œuvre et de comprendre l’établissement des frontières du point de vue de l’agentivité de l’acteur. Nous en faisons la démonstration en analysant des extraits de la commission Bouchard-Taylor, une consultation sur les minorités culturelles qui a eu lieu au Québec en 2007 et 2008.
