Abstract
hipertenso baseouse na simples determinao de dois pontos da curva de presso arterial, as presses sistlica e diastlica, sem levar em considerao o diferente perfi l da curva da presso ao longo da rvore arterial. Recentemente, uma anlise no-invasiva da onda de pulso identifi cou a medida da rigidez arterial como um fator independente de risco cardiovascular em hipertensos. Os diferentes determinantes da rigidez arterial parecem ter bases genticas.
