Abstract
L’oeuvre contemporaine reprend et intègre plusieurs des effets et des affects qui se produisent à la jonction de deux lieux principaux, l’espace de création et celui de diffusion, l’atelier et le musée. Cette stratégie n’est cependant pas nouvelle, et depuis le 19 e siècle plusieurs artistes ont choisi de « muséifier » leur atelier. La contrainte du musée permet-elle de préserver et de transmettre l’essentiel de la démarche de création et sa portée polysensorielle? Les conditions de l’atelier : espace et lumière, les qualités tactiles et olfactives des matériaux et l’environnement des oeuvres qui subsistent peuvent-ils fournir au spectateur qui s’y engage une expérience différente de celle du musée, la rencontre avec une démarche artistique? Quatre types de musée-atelier (décor, galerie, inventaire, processus), définissent différents apprentissages qui plongent le visiteur dans une saisie plus complète de l’oeuvre perçue dans son lieu même.
