Resonant micro-Raman study of Nd<sub>0.5</sub>Sr<sub>0.5</sub>MnO<sub>3</sub>

Abstract
We present a resonant micro-Raman study of a high-quality Nd 0.5 Sr 0.5 MnO 3 single crystal as a function of temperature. The detected phonons trace the evolution between the paramagnetic, ferromagnetic, A-type antiferromagnetic and CE-type antiferromagnetic charge and orbital ordering phase transitions. The 16 detected phonon frequencies at T < T co are compared to NdMnO 3 and La 0.5 Ca 0.5 MnO 3 observed frequencies, indicating the presence of coherent Jahn–Teller distortions and strong similarities between the CE-type Nd 0.5 Sr 0.5 MnO 3 and La 0.5 Ca 0.5 MnO 3 phases.
