Résumé Notre objectif est de mettre en lumière les hypothèses qui soustendent les analyses relatives à la distribution des revenus et à la pauvreté et de montrer les biais qu’elles entraînent sur les résultats obtenus. Ces hypothèses conduisent à sous-estimer, voire à cacher, les risques de pauvreté des femmes. Ces conséquences sont illustrées à travers trois exemples de « mauvais calculs », qui témoignent d’un aveuglement par rapport à la situation spécifique des femmes. Le premier porte sur l’estimation du risque de pauvreté et montre la variabilité des estimations selon que l’on prend en compte le revenu du ménage ou les revenus individuels. Le deuxième est relatif aux effets d’une rupture sur les revenus des membres du ménage, et montre que les résultats des calculs traditionnels sous-estiment la capacité des femmes à vivre seules. Le dernier s’intéresse aux travailleurs pauvres, souvent des hommes dans l’approche traditionnelle, alors que la situation des femmes sur le marché du travail reste plus précaire.
