L’identité de l’homme, lisible dans chacun des actes de son existence, sera ici abordée par l’observation du dernier d’entre eux : la mort. Quelle image de lui-même projette-t-il, floue et parlante à la fois, sur le mur de la mort d’aujourd’hui? Et cette image concorde-t-elle avec ce que dépeint l’art musical contemporain d’un individu nouveau, changeant, insaisissable, si ce n’est par la matière qu’il ordonne autour de lui? Mort et musique balisent les fins de l’homme — fin de son être, de son entendement — et leur statut de douanières du royaume rend sa parole plus vive, plus certaine peut-être, comme on parle mieux de son pays après l’avoir quitté.
