Abstract
Managing and dealing with disease outbreaks in cattle herds can be a challenging proposition for the practising veterinarian. The first and most critical task early in the investigation is to clearly define the problem. The development of a case definition is an important step in describing the problem. Hypotheses to identify potential causes for the outbreak are generated by identifying groups for comparison. Individual animals can be confined and examined during the initial visit or later, combined with other routine processing activities. Laboratory examination of strategically submitted samples can help rule out or confirm the diagnosis, monitor exposure to potentially important risk factors, determine the necessity for and appropriate level of intervention, and assess the success of control measures. The investigation of disease outbreaks provides an opportunity for the herd veterinarian to show the client the advantages of a herd health programme and the value of a good record-keeping system.
Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
