Abstract
La motivation constitue un des elements fondamentaux de la reussite de l’apprenant en langue etrangere. Elle differe d’un apprenant a l’autre en fonction de ses attentes et de ses objectifs pour la langue apprise. Ainsi, deux types de motivation se manifestent, la motivation dite intrinseque exprimee par l’interet et le desir accordes a la langue. En revanche, lorsque la finalite de l’apprentissage pratique consiste en l’obtention d’une recompense ou l’evitement d’une punition, la motivation manifestee est dite extrinseque. Le but de cette etude est d’evaluer l’importance de la motivation, manifestee par ses deux types, sur les etudiants apprenant le francais dans le cadre de l’enseignement superieur. Il s’agit notamment de mettre en lumiere les principales sources agissant sur la motivation des etudiants et les amenant par consequent a passer d’un etat de demotivation a celui de la motivation ou inversement dans leur apprentissage.
