Abstract
La formation professionnelle et technique constitue un lieu d’expérimentations de premier choix pour la conception de curricula à base d’« approche par compétence ». L’expérience du ministère de l’Éducation du Québec dans ce domaine montre que l’approche par compétence s’inscrit dans une critique des présupposés behavioristes de la pédagogie par objectifs (PPO). De plus, l’approche québécoise vise à réduire le fractionnement des objectifs pédagogiques au profit d’une conception élargie et intégrée des apprentissages, en lien avec les exigences de l’emploi. À l’arrivée, la « technologie sociale » mise en place contribue à une nouvelle orientation des apprentissages qui, en mettant l’accent sur la participation des élèves aux situations, renouvelle les finalités comportementales de la formation. Elle conduit également à définir les compétences requises sur la base de procédures qui, loin de les affaiblir, renforcent les médiations organisant la relation formation-emploi.
