In dit rapport worden de resultaten beschreven van een inventariserend onderzoek naar de wijze waarop in verschillende landen, te weten Engeland, Duitsland, Canada, Zweden en Belgie wordt omgegaan met personen die een ernstig gewelds- of zedendelict hebben gepleegd en tevens een psychische stoornis hebben. Het eerste doel van dit onderzoek is om inzicht te verschaffen in de actuele stand van zaken in deze landen wat betreft een aantal aspecten van de wetgeving en tenuitvoerlegging van strafrechtelijke maatregelen en straffen ten aanzien van deze groep. In de tweede plaats zal de stand van zaken in Nederland wat deze aspecten betreft in grote lijnen worden vergeleken met die in de onderzochte landen.
