Abstract

Bioconjugates of synthetic polymers, natural polymers, hydrogels, and nanoparticles (NPs) have received a lot of attention in the decade. These bioconjugates have been implied for a variety of biological applications, including drug and gene delivery applications, biological assays, imaging, and biosensors. The success of these bioconjugates in research laboratories, as compared to their precursor biomolecules, have further encouraged for their use in industrial applications. The potential of self-immolative polymers (SIPs), as labeling probes is studied by using water-soluble self-immolative trimers, equipped with phenylacetamide trigger, the trigger can be cleaved by penicillin G amidase (PGA). Biomaterials play a critical role in tissue engineering by providing scaffolds and matrices for the growth and differentiation of living cells. This chapter describes the applications of these bioconjugates in detail.
