Abstract
Narcisse-Eutrope Dionne, directeur de la Bibliothèque de la Législature se rend à Bruxelles à l’été 1910 pour assister au Congrès international des bibliothécaires qui se tient en marge de la grande exposition universelle et internationale présentée cette année-là dans la capitale belge. Il est alors délégué par le gouvernement du Québec et par l’Université Laval où il est également professeur d’histoire et d’archéologie. C’est son second voyage européen, puisqu’il y est allé en voyage de secondes noces en 1896. Âgé de 62 ans et près de la retraite, il sait que c’est la dernière fois qu’il voit le vieux continent. Il décide alors de partir avec son fils Gérard, l’aîné des trois fils de son second mariage et de l’amener dans un voyage de découverte et d’expérience humaine.
