Abstract
This chapter presents another alternative to the Poisson process. As in the case of the fluid flow model of Chapter 7, an underlying Markov chain controls the source; however, in this case messages are generated at a Poisson rate whose average depends upon the state of the chain, the Batch Markov Arrival Process (BMAP). We focus on a particular example the Markov Modulated Poisson Process (MMPP). We derive the solution to the forward Kolmogorov equation of BMAP. The remainder of the chapter is a sequence of steps that leads to the performance evaluation of queuing systems driven by the BMAP. We obtain the moments of queue length at arbitrary points in time and we find the Laplace transform of virtual waiting time and obtain the moments of virtual waiting time. In the last section of the chapter, we model long-range dependent traffic as a MMPP.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; both teacher heads agree on what is shown here.
