Abstract
L’objectif de cet article est d’étudier la manière dont l’art contemporain analyse la figure du corps à travers la question du contour. Il s’agit de montrer que le contour du corps n’est ni le périmètre ni le seuil qui délimite la frontière entre l’intérieur et l’extérieur. Refusant de circonscrire le corps, le contour propose un espace différent que Michaux appelle incirconscrit. Les oeuvres de Serra, Giacometti, Klee sont des occasions d’interroger la force du contour quand il refuse de délimiter l’espace et quand il s’affirme lui-même comme l’échelle de ce qu’il entoure. Le contour du corps comme limite ne laisse pas « rêver la ligne ». Par contre, quand il l’incorpore, il propose une distance critique, échelle de sa propre mesure. C’est cette distance que Merleau-Ponty interpelle dans Le Visible et l’invisible quand il met en perspective la poésie de Michaux et la peinture de Klee.
