Abstract
Dieser Artikel analysiert das Hörspiel „Sabeth“ von Günter Eich unter dem Aspekt der animal studies . Im Zentrum der Analyse, entsprechend der Theorie des „Tier‐Werdens“ von Deleuze und Guattari, steht die Frage, wie Eich den Abgrund zwischen Mensch und Tier sowie die scheinbar festen Kategorien „Mensch“ und „Tier“ selbst durch Verfahrensweisen des Werdens dekonstruiert und somit zu einer neuen, posthumanistischen Mensch‐Tier‐Beziehung gelangt, die zu einem Aussetzen der anthropologischen Maschine à la Agamben führt. Anhand der Unterkategorien Sprache, Selbstbewusstsein, Gedächtnis und Tod wird untersucht, wie die Verwischung dieser Grenzen den Menschen als einziges autonomes Subjekt hinterfragt und das Hörspiel somit zu einer posthumanistischen Neubewertung von Mensch und Tier beiträgt. Gleichzeitig wird Eichs Poetologie des „Übersetzens“ mit dem Überschreiten der Grenze zwischen Mensch und Tier um eine Dimension erweitert, welche der littérature engagée eine weitere Dimension, die mit den Forderungen der animal studies übereinstimmt, verleiht.
