With renewed emphasis on accountability in education, teachers have been forced to revisit their understanding of assessment and evaluation to ensure their conceptions of teaching and learning are aligned with the assessment and evaluation practices that go along with them. As well, there has been an increased demand for more openness and scrutiny about the assessment and evaluation process by parents. Basic assumptions made are that:
