Abstract
A une soixantaine de kilomètres au sud-ouest de Montréal (Québec), d'étroites rainures, pour la plupart parfaitement droites, longues de quelques centaines de mètres à plus d'un kilomètre, résultent d'une scarification des dépôts meubles par des icebergs dérivant dans la Mer de Champlain. L'orientation des sillons est sensiblement parallèle à l'axe de la vallée du Saint-Laurent. Les icebergs ont pu provenir du nord de Trois-Rivières, où l'inlandsis vêlait encore dans la Mer de Champlain vers 10 500 BP. Les sillons seraient alors liés aux vents catabatiques du nord-est qui ont aussi façonné les champs de dunes tardiglaciaires. Dans deux cas cependant, la morphologie des sillons révèle un sens diamétralement opposé, soit des paléovents du sud-ouest, conformes aux vents dominants actuels. Des dépressions fermées présentant l'apparence de cratères d'ancrage sont associées aux sillons. Seules les plus petites d'entre elles sont attribuables aux icebergs. Les plus grandes, en essaims, semblent plutôt des vestiges de buttes cryogènes minérales. C'est la première fois que des marques d'icebergs sont signalées dans l'aire recouverte par la Mer de Champlain.
