Abstract
ABSTRACT Due to inadequate space and environmental conditions, both the National Library of Canada and the National Archives of Canada realized as far back as 1967 that their newly constructed and shared building in Ottawa would be only a short-term solution. A new preservation facility, which would fulfill all the needs of the National Archives, was constructed some thirty years later. The Library and Archives Canada Preservation Centre houses vast and diverse collections of Canadian documentary heritage. An architectural icon in its league, the Centre is equipped with the most modern instruments for records conservation.
