Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

INCOME AND EXPENDITURE 2007 Income from membership for this year was less than anticipated. Unfortunately one or two branches were behind with payment. Another 10,000 [euro] will be received, we expect, in 2008. We invite all branches to be punctual with sending their dues in the future, especially as Fontes is back on schedule and invoices from the publisher are arriving regularly. Almost all individual members paid their dues for 2007. Miscellaneous income from label sales and especially advertising was less than expected, but we may expect more income in the future thank to the efforts of David Day, our new advertising manager. We were able to sell our last offshore investments before the financial crisis and managed to make a small profit, unfortunately in US dollars, and the dollar has been weak in recent times. The US dollar account was closed late in 2007, by the bank, which no longer wishes to handle that sort of account. We will spend 2008 establishing whether we need a dollar account, or if we can accommodate dollar transactions, and their associated costs, from the Euro account. Expenditure was a bit less than expected. The Outreach Fund attracted a large donation from the Australian Branch, who requested that a large part of this should be transferred to the Naples Conference. 2007 was the 10th year in which 2.5% of all income (minus Outreach donation) was donated to the Outreach Fund. Membership dues bring in the bulk of the association's running costs, and membership has declined in recent years. We are currently targetting membership in South America; I do not think, however, that we can assume membership numbers to rise significantly, despite the best efforts of Jon Bagues, and this is the basis for the budget predictions for 2010, which have assumed that the membership numbers remain the same as 2008. We have to set the dues for 2010, and I have tried to adhere to the idea of a 2% increase; however, as I prefer to work in whole numbers, I propose that the institutional dues rise to i60 (from i59), and individuals rise to i36 (from i35.50). The dues I have proposed will result in an overall increase in this part of our income of just less than 2%. We are grateful to the 2007 auditors, Joost van Gemert and Jantien Dubbeldam. Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
