Mejoras en la dificultad respiratoria tras un programa ambulatorio de ejercicio físico en pacientes con EPOC

Objetivo: analizar los beneficios de un programa ambulatorio de ejercicio físico sobre la disnea en sujetos con EPOC. Métodos: estudio analítico, de intervención, prospectivo, cuasi-experimental “antes y después”, sin grupo control. El muestreo fue intencionado entre todos los pacientes con EPOC que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión, quedando la muestra configurada por 22 pacientes. Se analizaron las variables edad, sexo, IMC, tensión arterial, Sat.O2, FC, nivel de autonomía, deterioro cognitivo y grado de disnea. El programa de ejercicios tuvo una duración de 4 semanas tras la que se volvió a evaluar la disnea. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo de todas las variables y se construyen los intervalos de confianza para la media al 95%. Resultados: De los 22 pacientes estudiados la edad media fue de 61 años, 72,7% hombres, 31,8% independientes para las actividades de la vida diaria (I.Barthel 95,90). El grado de disnea antes del programa de ejercicios obtuvo una media de 2,68 ± 0,64, y después del programa fue de 1,88 ± 0,65.El porcentaje de pacientes con disnea moderada antes del programa de entrenamiento, disminuyó de manera significativa tras la intervención. Conclusiones: Existe un elevado porcentaje de pacientes que obtienen mejoras en la disnea tras un programa ambulatorio de entrenamiento físico.
