Abstract
Héritier du musée national des Arts et Traditions populaires, le musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée (MuCEM), ouvert à Marseille en juin 2013, conserve aujourd’hui une riche collection d’objets de dévotion, en particulier relatifs au catholicisme. Considérés comme les témoins matériels du fait religieux, les objets de dévotion, placés au cœur de la politique d’enrichissement de l’ancien musée des Arts et Traditions populaires comme de celle du nouveau MuCEM, traduisent le rapport du croyant au divin. En tant que musée de civilisation, le MuCEM s’attache à porter sur ces objets un regard pluridisciplinaire et à mettre en valeur, au sein de ses expositions, la pluralité des sens que ces objets peuvent porter. Objets identitaires, objets de marge, objets mobiles, objets relationnels, les objets de dévotion sont les supports essentiels de l’approche du fait religieux, des pratiques et des croyances.
