Abstract
Aujourd’hui, les réseaux anarchistes en Amérique du Nord et en Europe sont traversés par des débats portant sur la prostitution. Une analyse des discours anarchistes au sujet de la prostitution de la fin du xixe siècle au milieu du xxe siècle permet de dégager, au-delà de la diversité, certaines perspectives convergentes et les tendances les plus prononcées. La majorité des anarchistes semble partager l’avis que c’est la misère provoquée par le capitalisme qui pousse les femmes pauvres à se prostituer. Pour plusieurs, la prostitution peut être comparée au mariage ou à un métier rémunéré, mais elle reste la forme d’exploitation la plus injuste et la plus violente. Quant aux solutions, les anarchistes du passé ont exécuté des proxénètes, encouragé les prostituées à se syndiquer, ou tenté de les aider à se sortir de la prostitution par la création d’ateliers autogérés ou de centres d’hébergement.
