Abstract
El proposito de este estudio fue describir las caracteristicas de personalidad, estrategias de afrontamiento y el dolor percibido en un grupo de pacientes con diagnostico de fibromialgia, y observar si existe relacion entre estas variables. Para ello, se utilizo el Inventario de Personalidad de Eysenck, el Inventario de Estrategias de Afrontamiento, el McGill Pain Questionaire y la Escala Visual Analoga. Se encontraron relaciones significativas entre algunas estrategias de afrontamiento, que mostraron un patron de respuesta coherente, lo que denota la solidez de este constructo. De igual forma, el indice global de dolor correlaciono significativamente con sus tres subindices, lo que confirma su multidimensionalidad. La personalidad no correlaciono con dolor ni con afrontamiento, sin ser claro si la discrepancia obedece a diferencias metodologicas o, por el contrario, revalua la asociacion entre tales variables.
