Abstract
Comment se manifeste, chez les jeunes pères, le constat fait par plusieurs de la place centrale de la dimension affective, relationnelle, dans la famille contemporaine ? Comment fonctionne ce que De Singly (1993) nomme la « fermeture relative du cercle domestique » ? Bref, comment l’intime est-il vécu ? C’est à ces questions que les auteurs se proposent de répondre à partir des données d’une recherche qualitative sur l’expérience de la paternité à un jeune âge. Posant d’emblée que l’entrée dans la paternité peut être lue comme une construction d’espaces d’intimité, ils s’attardent ensuite à en faire la démonstration. Deux dimensions de l’intimité mises en lumière par Neuburger (2000) sont explorées en détail, soit l’espace physique (le déploiement de la paternité au quotidien) et l’espace psychique (les sentiments, les croyances fondant l’ être père ).
