Abstract
Dans cet essai, l’auteur cherche à préciser les contours de la sensibilité religieuse québécoise contemporaine à l’aide d’une analyse de deux oeuvres artistiques : le film La neu-vaine (2005) de Bernard Émond et Bureaux (2003), pièce de théâtre d’Alexis Martin. Il voit dans ces dernières une expression de l’inquiétude née du désenchantement spirituel que connaît le Québec post-Révolution tranquille. Une attention particulière est portée au vide laissé par la disparition à la fois sociale et culturelle du catholicisme qui fut dans le passé un lieu fort de l’identité culturelle canadienne-française. Ce vide est comblé par la « religion thérapeutique » qui, sous ses diverses formes, domine la religion traditionnelle et tend à confondre la quête spirituelle et le confort psychologique. Face à cette situation, seule l’oeuvre d’art semble en mesure de poser à nouveau la question de la transcendance dans toute sa radicalité.
