This article lists the top 50 passenger rail projects for 2005 from New Yorks $11 billion in projects to Tampas $7 million Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority. A detailed chart lists rank, agency, city, state, cost of projects in millions, and other metrics. MTA New York City leads with $11 billion for 660 new cars for its annual $1.4 billion riders. Notably, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority went from #50 in 2004 to #8 due to $1.7 billion in funding for 879 new rail cars for its 140 million passengers. Lastly, the Orange County Transportation dropped from #18 to #42 with $60 million in projects for 19 new cars.
