Le présent article compare la production par habitant dans les diverses provinces du Canada de 1990 à 2003, en prenant comme mesure le PIB par habitant en dollars courants ou nominaux. Les différences de PIB par habitant peuvent être attribuées à des différences sous jacentes d'efficacité des économies provinciales. La mesure choisie de cette efficacité est la productivité du travail ou PIB par heure travaillée. Les différences de PIB par habitant peuvent aussi être dues à des différences quant à la quantité de ressources humaines utilisées, tel que mesurer par l'intensité du travail ou le nombre d'heures travaillées par habitant. Le présent rapport examine dans quelle mesure les différences de PIB par habitant sont imputables à chacun de ces facteurs.
