L’anthropologie de la santé a connu une évolution spectaculaire au cours des dernières décennies. Elle doit toutefois composer aujourd’hui avec les contributions de plusieurs autres disciplines des sciences sociales et humaines dans le champ d’étude des dimensions sociales, politiques et culturelles de la santé et de la maladie. Pour conserver sa crédibilité comme “science sociale” et pour faire face à l’émergence de nouveaux objets de recherche, elle devra relever plusieurs défis, tant au plan de ses outils conceptuels, mais aussi et surtout au plan de sa maîtrise des méthodologies qualitatives et quantitatives. Mais cela, sans mettre de côté son profond souci pour une réflexion critique sur les politiques de santé et pour une phénoménologie de la souffrance.
