Abstract
Le don d'organes est un acte qui suscite actuellement de la méfiance dans les sociétés occidentales. Il continue à représenter une avancée de la médecine pour les patients en attente de transplantation dont la vie peut être prolongée. Cependant, d'aucuns s'interrogent sur la pertinence d'un acte médical dramatique pour les familles de donneurs mais salvateur pour les receveurs, les dérives vers le trafic ou la commercialisation ayant largement entamé l'enthousiasme du public vis-à-vis des techniques médicales de pointe. Une enquête menée au moyen d'entretiens semi-structures auprès d'un groupe de familles de donneurs potentiels à la suite du décès d'un parent dans un site hospitalier universitaire et auprès d'un groupe de personnes " tout-venant ", vise à discerner les déterminants des acceptations ou des refus du don d'organes dans un contexte culturel français structuré par les médias.
