Abstract
Un thé au Sahara (Bertolucci, 1990), tiré du roman éponyme de Paul Bowles, présente un exemple éloquent et original de road movie interculturel. Le mouvement qui juxtapose et relie sans cesse lieux, sons, paysages, visages, rythmes, lumières, route, dépaysement, voyage, expérience d’endroits inconnus et différences linguistiques constitue à la fois la forme et le contenu du film qui révèle et met en scène l’opacité de l’Autre (que cela soit au sein du couple, dans l’amitié, dans la folie ou encore dans l’autre ethnique et culturel). Ce road movie appelle le spectateur à faire l’expérience de la différence et à se méfier d’une interprétation guidée par le besoin de transparence.
