Abstract
Le corporatisme professionnel est particulièrement fort au Québec où des monopoles professionnels existent depuis 1847. La prolifération des privilèges professionnels et la crainte qu'elle n'entraîne des effets négatifs pour les consommateurs de services ont amené l'État québécois à intervenir par voie législative, en 1973, pour tenter de réguler les activités des professionnels. En prenant pour champ d'observation le secteur des services de santé, cet article décrit deux interventions spécifiques: l'introduction de l'inspection professionnelle, c'est-à-dire de l'obligation pour les corporations de surveiller les activités de leurs membres pour en garantir la qualité, et l'institution d'un mécanisme de délégation d'actes professionnels, pour favoriser une division du travail sanitaire souple et adaptée aux besoins de la population. Ces interventions sont décrites et analysées à la lumière des théories dominantes en sociologie des professions.
