Abstract
Les nouveaux arrivants qui s’établissent à Sherbrooke ont peu tendance à se regrouper à l’intérieur de groupes religieux composés en majorité de migrants, contrairement à ce qui prévaut dans la région de Montréal. Ce sont plutôt les groupes religieux composés en majorité de citoyens natifs de tradition chrétienne qui accueillent et intègrent les immigrants, permettant ainsi la création d’espaces interculturels. À partir de données préliminaires, recueillies dans le cadre d’une enquête ethnographique portant sur la diversité religieuse à Sherbrooke, nous soumettons ici aux lecteurs quelques observations préliminaires. Celles-ci permettront de mieux comprendre comment ces groupes donnent ou non aux nouveaux arrivants le moyen de maintenir et d’exprimer leurs particularismes identitaires et culturels et comment ils favorisent ou non l’intégration plus large de ceux-ci dans l’ensemble de la société sherbrookoise.
