Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We present a search for a new heavy particle $X$ produced in association with a top quark, $p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}t(X\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\overline{t}q)$ or $p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\overline{t}(\overline{X}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}t\overline{q})$, where $q$ stands for up quarks and down quarks. Such a particle may explain the recent anomalous measurements of top-quark forward-backward asymmetry. If the light-flavor quark ($q$) is reconstructed as a jet ($j$), this gives a $\overline{t}+j$ or $t+j$ resonance in $t\overline{t}+\mathrm{\text{jet}}$ events, a previously unexplored experimental signature. In a sample of events with exactly one lepton, missing transverse momentum and at least five jets, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $8.7\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ collected by the CDF II detector, we find the data to be consistent with the standard model. We set cross-section upper limits on the production ($p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}Xt$ or $\overline{X}\overline{t}$) at 95% confidence level from 0.61 pb to 0.02 pb for $X$ masses ranging from $200\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{\mathrm{c}}^{2}$ to $800\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{\mathrm{c}}^{2}$, respectively.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
