Abstract
L’accouchement non assisté (freebirth) est la démarche qui consiste à donner naissance sans assistance professionnelle, par choix. Né au milieu du xxe siècle, le mouvement a pris son essor et obtenu de la visibilité à la faveur de l’arrivée d’Internet et d’un climat périnatal de plus en plus restrictif, voire judiciarisé. Selon un point de vue de critique féministe à la fois académique (inspiré des rares études sur le sujet) et personnel (l’auteure a été freebirther), l’article trace un portrait du phénomène et rend compte du cadre de référence revendiqué par les femmes qui se posent à la marge des pratiques périnatales alternatives.
