L’un des aspects les plus intéressants du nationalisme québécois depuis les années 1960 est son ancrage à gauche. Comparé aux nationalismes flamand et catalan, par exemple, le nationalisme québécois est le plus souvent associé aux politiques égalitaristes d’inspiration sociale-démocrate. Bien qu’il existe une faction néolibérale au sein du mouvement indépendantiste, le nationalisme québécois semble inséparable de l’idée que le Québec forme une « société distincte » non seulement en raison de sa langue et de sa culture, mais également en raison de son modèle économique et social. L’objectif de cet article est d’expliquer et d’illustrer cet ancrage à gauche du nationalisme québécois dans le champ des politiques économiques et sociales depuis les années 1960. Centré sur le Québec, mais incluant une discussion d’autres cas, l’article met l’accent sur les rapports entre les acteurs, les idées économiques et les institutions politiques, notamment les partis.
