Abstract
Ce mémoire est une étude des transformations sociales et économiques dans l'agriculture pratiquée au Québec depuis 1980. Il s'inscrit dans une perspective critique des systèmes capitaliste et technique qui sont identifiés comme deux facteurs de transformations prépondérants de l'agriculture. Le premier chapitre traite de l'émergence et des caractéristiques de ces deux systèmes et des effets de leur action combinée sur la société et la nature ainsi que de leurs impacts sur l'agriculture moderne. Le deuxième chapitre est un survol historique de l'agriculture pratiquée au Québec pour permettre de saisir ses particularités sociales et économiques, et ainsi mettre en contexte la période à l'étude. Le troisième chapitre analyse les transformations des exploitations agricoles, des modes de mise en marché et de la transformation alimentaire depuis 1980 et ce, de façon plus approfondie pour le lait, le porc et le maïs. Le quatrième chapitre examine les transformations au niveau du mode de régulation politique dans le cadre du néolibéralisme en traitant du rôle des gouvernements canadien et québécois, du syndicat unique en agriculture c'est-à-dire l'Union des Producteurs Agricoles (UPA) ainsi que des corporations privées. ______________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Agriculture, Politique agricole, Québec, Capitalisme, Technologie.
