Abstract
En 2012, un projet d’ateliers d’écriture en milieu carcéral et communautaire prend forme grâce à une collaboration entre des membres de l’AAOF (Association des auteurs et des auteures de l’Ontario français) et Sylvie Frigon, professeure au département de criminologie à l’Université d’Ottawa. Le projet se traduit par près de deux-cents textes. Malgré la diversité des thèmes au niveau du fond et de la forme, certains récits issus des ateliers à Élizabeth Fry (Gatineau), Les Baumettes (Marseille), Les Impatients (Montréal) et La rue des Femmes (Montréal) sont traversés par un rapport antithétique à la mère. En fait, à l’intérieur de ce lieu commun, un registre négatif et un registre positif cohabitent parfois dans un même texte. D’une part, la mère est source de haine, d’annihilation ou de rejet. D’autre part, elle est édifiée en tant qu’objet d’amour inconditionnel, de maternité et de douceur.
