Abstract Our life support systems, our quality of life, depend on a number of major parts of our Earth systems and all are related. These include: quality air to breathe; quality water for all species; a reliable climate; quality soil to support all the surface biomass; biodiversity. All are changing rapidly due to human actions. For truly sustainable development, for food security, we must conserve soil and stop soil erosion.
