Abstract
L'étude sociologique des marges s'est principalement constituée entre l'approche fonctionnaliste de la déviance et l'approche dynamique du changement social. Plus qu'une antinomie par rapport à ce qui constitue la centrante des sociétés, les diverses expressions de la marginalité sont révélatrices d'un moment de rupture dans le processus de structuration ou de déstructuration qui les affecte, entre l'excentricité qui entraîne le changement et l'exclusion qui en constitue le résidu. Quelques expressions québécoises de la marginalité - les exclusions économiques par la restructuration du monde du travail et la modification des modes de vie, la recherche de sens dans l'ésotérisme - mettent en évidence les limites de l'organisation sociale actuelle et des institutions dans la construction d'une individualité libérée.
