Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We present a measurement of the inclusive production cross section for $Z$ bosons decaying to tau leptons in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$. We use a channel with one hadronically-decaying and one electronically-decaying tau. This measurement is based on $350\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of CDF Run II data. Using a sample of 504 opposite sign $e\ensuremath{\tau}$ events with a total expected background of 190 events, we obtain $\ensuremath{\sigma}(p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}4Z)\ifmmode\cdot\else\textperiodcentered\fi{}\mathcal{B}(Z\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\tau})=264\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}23(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}14(\mathrm{syst})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}15(\mathrm{lumi})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{pb}$, in agreement with the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD prediction. This is the first CDF cross section measurement using hadronically-decaying taus in Run II.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
