Abstract
L’enfant-soldat, qu’il soit victime ou bourreau, bourreau et victime, resterait donc l’infans, celui qui ne peut parler et encore moins témoigner. C’est pourtant bien le choix qu’opère la littérature et ce, dès Allah n’est pas obligé (2000) de l’Ivoirien Ahmadou Kourouma. Ce roman qui inaugure l’entrée de l’enfant-soldat dans la fiction romanesque africaine francophone , fait d’emblée, comme nous le verrons, de son personnage Birahima, qui a entre dix et douze ans, un témoin. Ce statut inaugural trouve une permanence dans les romans francophones et notamment dans deux œuvres de romanciers camerounais : Tarmac des hirondelles (2007) de Georges Yémy, revenant sur le parcours d’enfant-soldat de Muna, un enfant albinos âgé de treize ans, et Les aubes écarlates (2009) de Léonora Miano, avec le personnage d’Epa, n’ayant pas atteint l’âge légal d’enrôlement de dix-huit ans. Il s’agira alors d’analyser, dans ces trois romans, la manière dont la fiction, par des dispositifs narratifs variés, permet d’appréhender l’enfant-soldat comme une figure de témoin et opère ainsi un renversement de paradigme en libérant l’enfant combattant à la fois de son statut de victime paroxystique et de bourreau sanguinaire.
